Missione

Mission

External Relations, Media and Communication: Editorial

The editorial department was set up within the External Relations, Media and Communication Unit, with the aim to produce publications and information materials, both on paper and on the web. The products manufactured by the editors are: "Focus.it - Newsletter del Registro .it", the Statistical Yearbook, and the "quick guides" (to help Maintainers to understand registration procedures).

External Relations, Media and Communication: Helpdesk

The Helpdesk offers first-level support - telephone, email or paper (conventional mail, fax) - and an indispensable guide to those who come into contact with the Registry and are interested in .it domain names. The activity of assigning and maintaining domain is on a national and European level. All adult citizens of the EU are legally permitted to have a .it domain. In fact, there are more than eight hundred thousand assignees of .it domain names to whom the External Relations unit offers direct support, even in the absence of a direct contractual relationship.

External Relations, Media and Communications: Press Relations Office

The Press Relations Office works within the External Relations, Media and Communications Unit. Its main aims is to promote the image of IIT, the Registry, and how they work, giving a wider and deeper knowledge of issues of public interest and social and maximum visibility to events of local, regional, national and international importance. Through its press office, the Registry provides direct support to editors and journalists wanting information regarding .it domain registrations, their dissemination, the services associated with them, and on how the Internet works.

External Relations, Media and Communication: Communication

In 2008 the Registry launched a communication campaign aimed at promoting the dissemination of .it domain names and related services as a means of spreading the culture of the Internet. From the end 2009, this campaign communication will move into its "external" phase and become more visible.

External Relations, Media and Communication: Training

Inside the External Relations, Media and Communications unit is the secretariat that organizes external and internal training courses:
- External training is given to Maintainers and Registrars that have an active contract with the Registry. It is organized in collaboration with the heads of other units, as regards course content, and where necessary with the project managers. The secretariat looks after both the logistical and operational aspects of the various courses, as well as preparing teaching materials, statements, and questionnaires for participants;
